This symbol represents the resistors used in most modern technology. In electric circuitry, it controls the voltage of the current by providing resistance. The level of resistance depends on its physical composition. In the social realm, the current to be controlled are the political forces in motion that would bring harm to others. Our world is under attack by its own operating system; it has been corrupted by a virus.
The ideological struggle for dominance of this generation is marked distinct from any other by a competition to control the flow of information; modern global political economics is dominated by the this unprecedented network of knowledge.
On an individual level, one has felt the size of the earth shrink tremendously in less than a decade. Our social, political, and economic interdependence has never been tighter. The people who inhabit this planet are bound together by market exchanges and mutually beneficial social networks. In the twenty-first century, the information superhighway is the Silk Road of its era.
Despite the immense growth in wealth and prosperity, the inhabitants of this earth are still subject to wide-scale suffering, carrying with it global ramifications. All too often, this suffering might have been avoided if not for the existence of forceful State authority. Like the fluid, yet distinguished cultures dotting the planet, State governments have arisen in many forms — but while the form may vary, the aim does not. The end game for the increasing expansion and centralisation of State authority is tyranny; regardless of conscious intent, this transition is marked by an objective pattern which has been recorded throughout history with frightening regularity. People quick to dismiss such notions have already begun to sink into ideological submissiveness.
The political, social, and economic forces which mark this transition are a complex series of human relationships. By virtue of our everyday consensual interactions we shape the world and everything about it, from the price of a loaf of bread to the judicial standard for that most paramount of ideas — equality.
Endowed by our very nature with the liberty to act and think as we choose, within the bounds of respecting that same right of others, we are likewise burdened with the responsibility of self-awareness. This responsibility brings with it a duty to be reasonably informed about the things in which one engages; for how can a relationship between individuals be mutually consensual if one is ignorant of the explicit intentions of another?
Pervasive ignorance facilitates the coercive powers of the state. All over the world governments are curtailing the liberties of their citizens; erecting cameras on the streets, eroding due process in the courts, abusing police powers in our cities and in our homes, spying secretly on our private conversations, shovelling ourselves and future generations into debt in order to finance misguided wars — and all of it is based on absolutely false or deliberately misleading information.
The ideological struggle for dominance of this generation is marked distinct from any other by a competition to control the flow of information; our world is driven by the policies shaped through our understanding of this network of knowledge.
Although resistors are small in comparison to their motherboard environments, they play a vital role in stopping the flow of energy. Likewise the spirit of ideological resistance may be marked by individual acts of resistance all over the world; we are all a part of a single global socio-political circuit. Every day our exchanges with one another define how our future takes shape. Reject the false principles around which your life is based and resist the unjust coercion to ‘go along.’

Solar flares galore!

Last night, the fourth major solar flare of the week burst onto the scene in a flash of ultraviolet radiation. And there may be even more just around the corner:

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration forecasters say there’s a good chance that more solar flares are on their way. The agency says there is a 50% chance of X-class solar flares and an 80% chance of less powerful M-class solar flares, in the next 24 hours.

You can read more on the flares over at Science Now, but for the time being, we’ll step back and let you look at the crazy photos above a bit longer.

In honor of Skylab’s anniversary, here is a documentary worth every second of your time. Educate yourself on the space race and private industry as it concerns us today.
Orphans of Apollo is (description provided by mirforpeace) …the extraordinary true story of a rebel group of entrepreneurs who seized command of the Russian Mir Space Station. It was the pioneering efforts of these brave, free marketeer buinessmen who launched the New Space Revolution, and kick-started the privatization of outer space as we know it today. This is the greatest story never told, and one film you are not supposed to see…
“Orphans of Apollo” is the award winning documentary that has been called the “greatest space story never told.” The film tells the extraordinary true story of a small group of entrepreneurs who felt, ‘orphaned’ by President Nixon’s decision to end the NASA Apollo Moon program and the subsequent years of nominal space activity. This band of brothers took matters into their own hands, and commandeered the Russian Mir Space Station, behind the backs of NASA and the US government. The rebellious, yet pioneering efforts has been credited with launching the new commercial Space Revolution. This is the remarkable untold story of the greatest secret in the new space race.
This dramatic tale chronicles the adventure of the boldest business plan the Earth has ever seen. ‘MirCorp’, the entrepreneurial company ’s vision to transform the Russian space station into an outpost for what was intended to be the first phase of a trillion dollar business. The project was to include mining of asteroids, gravity free laboratories, a space ‘hotel’, and a research facility. MirCorp was the ultimate start-up company, and unlike anything the universe had ever seen.
Join this band of rebels out to change the course of history in space, as they board a private jet, fly to Russia, negotiate one of the most remarkable business deals of the final frontier. Follow this diverse group as they pioneer their way through this new business of space. Listen to the management team as they struggle with issues of branding, finance, technology, and engage in the ultimate slugfest with the most powerful governments and bureaucrats.
Orphans of Apollo is an intimate and compelling epic which eloquently communicates the real origins of the private commercial new space revolution. Now for the first, and possibly the last, time, “Orphans of Apollo” combines archival material from original NASA film footage, Russian archival footage, personal footage, IMAX footage, with interviews and or footage with key players including Tom Clancy, Elon Musk, Richard Branson, Rick Tumlinson, Walt Anderson, Gus Gardellini, Jeff Manber, and others. I’ve only seen the trailer but judging by that, the history that I already know and the movie poster, this is probably the most Anarcho-Capitalistic space documentary of all time.

beatyourselfup:

Police officers in Tennessee, as well as the federal government, are policing for profit. Here in this video, the police stole $160,000 from an innocent man.

“You would spend 3 times more trying to get $10,000 back… You have to kiss your money goodbye.”

This is the literal definition of “highway robbery”.

Notice how he said it’s a “currency violation”? Apparently, it’s illegal to have large sums of cash in your car. And the government had to be bribed to expedite his case, getting back only $155,000. And this isn’t an isolated incident. Watch the video and you’ll see.

This is a critical component of the American police state.

There is no ‘i’ in ‘team’. Maybe not….but there is an ‘i’ in ‘independence’, ‘individuality’, and ‘integrity’.

With deference to the genius of David Bowie, here’s Space Oddity, recorded on Station. A last glimpse of the World.

Huge thanks in the making of the video to the talented trio of Emm Gryner, Joe Corcoran and Andrew Tidby, plus Evan Hadfield and all at the CSA.
